Recycling Metal
Rebox is proud to help you with all your recycling needs, including reclaiming scrap metal for creation of new products. Unlike paper, which can be reprocessed a maximum of seven times; metal can be salvaged and utilized in place of virgin material indefinitely.
The materials that are most commonly accepted by the scrap metal recycling industry are divided into six categories: aluminum, batteries, brass, copper, iron and steel. The recycling process for metals requires 75 to 95% less energy than virgin metal, so participation in recovery programs such as the one offered by Rebox is a sound decision in terms of environmental protection.
At the recycling plant the metal must be separated from other materials that may be mixed with it. The metal mix is first shredded, and then the final sorting is done using a magnetic or shifting procedure. After sorting, the metal is transferred to a blast furnace where it is melted under extremely high temperatures. Once it has been reduced to a liquefied state, it can be used to fabricate new products.
For example, once steel is melted it, it is molded into large blocks that are in turn rolled into coils. These coils are used in many ways in different industries, from making paper clips to building bridges.
There are financial rewards in recycling and a Rebox representative can show you the monetary benefits for your industry, as well as help you to develop an effective waste management plan for your scrap metal.
